Singer-songwriter Jimmie Allen took to Instagram in a recent post to share two pieces of news for his family. Jimmie and his wife Alexis Gale are expecting their third child together, the fourth for the “Be Alright” singer. However, the happy news comes as the couple also announced they are separating.
In a text-based Instagram post, the country singer began, “After much thought and reflection in recent months, Lex & I have made the decision to separate. As we navigate this life change, we can also share that we will be welcoming another child together later this year.” The couple shares two other children together, daughters Naomi Bettie and Zara James. Jimmie also has a son named Aadyn from a previous relationship.
The singer went on to share how the two will navigate this new stage in their relationship. “Our number one priority is and always will be ensuring that our children are healthy, happy, and loved, and we remain committed to co-parenting with love and respect for one another. In light of our growing family, we respectfully request privacy during this time.” Lexi shared the same message on her own Instagram page.
Last year, Jimmie spoke about growing his family at the ACM Awards, with the singer on the heels of welcoming daughter Zara. “Going from two to three is a big jump,” he shared. “It’s cool, we love ’em and we’re just definitely thankful for our kids.” As for whether the couple would have anymore, Jimmie shared at the time, “Oh, I am done.” On a later podcast episode, Jimmie clarifying his statements. “It was actually [Alexis’] idea [to be done with kids] cause when it comes to babies, you know guys, we got the fun part … women gotta carry the baby. Give birth to the baby. And ’cause she’s told [people] before she doesn’t mind giving birth, it’s the pregnancy part that’s normally gonna be hard on her. But I’m cool if she’s done. My jerseys are retired, but then we did talk about maybe in a couple years having another one, but we’ll kind of just see. Whatever happens, happens.”
The “Best Shot” singer and Alexis first met in the spring of 2019 and were engaged a short while later summer of that year. The couple held a private wedding ceremony on Jimmie’s birthday in June 2020 before holding a traditional wedding in May 2021.
