Singer-songwriter Leona Lewis announced in March that she was expecting her first child, just a few days after rumors circulated that she was pregnant. At the time, the “Bleeding Love” singer shared she and her husband Dennis Jauch would welcome their little one this summer. Now, she has announced her child’s birth!
“And then there were three.” Leona shared an image to announce the news that showed her hand and Dennis’s hand lying on their daughter, whose face was hidden. It’s a girl! The couple’s daughter arrived on July 22nd and they chose to name her Carmel Allegra Jauch Lewis. Carmel is a Hebrew name that means “vineyard of God,” while Allegra is a Latin name meaning “joy.”
During her Labyrith tour in 2010, the X Factor alum met Dennis, who worked on the tour as a dancer. They began dating soon after and became engaged in November 2018. The next year in August of 2019, the couple were married in a lavish wedding at Sting’s 16th-century luxury estate in Tuscany.
Since announcing her pregnancy, Leona has shared many posts documenting her journey. In June, she wrote, “There are so many emotional, physical, personal and professional changes to embrace.” When announcing changes to her tour for this year, she opened up about learning about her pregnancy. “At the end of last year I found out I was pregnant whilst being on tour which was the best news ever as honestly I didn’t even know if I would be able to be a mum, it’s been quite a journey and although I was suffering horrendous sickness, your energy and smiling faces made every moment of being back on stage so amazing after such a long time away. This is why it’s so difficult for me to say that I have to put my ‘Christmas, With Love’ tour back to next year. I’m so excited to be a first-time mum but sadly the dates are now just too close together for me to ensure I will be ready to give you the show and attention you deserve.”
