Celebrity chef Sophia Roe is going to be a mom! The TV host announced that she and her fiance Chris are expecting their first baby together. “Introducing my best recipe yet.”
Sophia took to Instagram to share her baby news with a series of images from a maternity photoshoot that appropriately took place in a kitchen. For the images, the Top Chef personality wore cropped tees and left her jeans unbuttoned to show off her growing baby bump. She also revealed her baby would arrive this summer.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the chef shared that she learned about her pregnancy shortly after getting engaged to Chris. He popped the question while the two were vacationing in Hawaii and on the flight back home to New York City, Sophia said something felt off in her stomach. When they returned home, she took a pregnancy test and learned that she was expecting. “I took another one and then I took another one. And it was my moment to basically be panicked and not panicked but just shaking and out of breath.”
The timing of discovering she was pregnant was overwhelming for Sophia because she learned the news the day before her birthday, which happened to fall on Election Day last year. “I was nervous so I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m pregnant,’ and my birthday’s tomorrow and the election is tomorrow.” She admited that her birthday was “brutal.” She explained, “I was anxious about the election. I wasn’t really thinking about my birthday, but it was just a combined anxiety of like it was a lot on the line, as we have seen.” The chef is remaining hopeful for her little one’s arrival, sharing that she’s “really excited to be a mobile mom, a very around-the-city mom. I plan on still doing my life. I still have a career. I still have all these things I want to do. I’m just hyped to still live my life, just with a baby.”
Congratulations to Sophia and Chris on the news of their first baby!
