Actress Emmy Rossum, most notably known for portraying the role of Fiona Gallagher in the TV series Shameless, has shared surprising news on Instagram. Emmy has welcomed her second child with her husband Sam Esmail. The actress had not previously shared that she and the Mr. Robot series creator were expecting a baby.

Emmy revealed in her Instagram post that she and Sam welcomed their newborn on April 5th and that they had a baby boy. “On a foggy Wednesday morning, our son was born.” Accompanying Emmy’s post were three black-and-white images. The first was a picture of her son’s footprints with details of his birth, revealing that he was born at 10:40 AM, weighed 6 lbs, 14 oz, and measured 19.5 inches long at birth. The second image was a mirror selfie of Emmy’s baby bump that focused solely on her mid-section while the third picture was a close-up of the lower half of her son’s face. The star, producer, and director of Angelyne did not share her son’s name.

Choosing not to share her child’s name is not something new for the actress. In fact, the pregnancy announcement is reminiscent of how Emmy revealed she became a first-time mom. In May 2021, Emmy shared that she had welcomed a daughter after not previously sharing she was pregnant. Of the similarities in the announcements, Emmy shares a picture of her daughter’s footprint along with the caption, “On a sunny Monday morning, at 8:13AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world.” With her daughter’s announcement, however, Emmy shared pictures from a maternity shoot, one of which featured Sam.

The couple, who tied the knot in May 2017, has still kept the name their daughter a secret. Additionally, Emmy chooses not to expose her daughter’s face online. While she shares images of her, her face is either covered or out of view.

Congratulations to Emmy and Sam on the arrival of their baby boy! We hope they are enjoying life as a family of four.
