Reality TV star Maci Bookout and her fiancé, Taylor McKinney, welcomed their second child together – a son named Maverick Reed.  Maci Tweeted “Mr. Maverick Reed has officially made his debut & completed our family. So much love, so many blessings!”  MTV reported that the baby boy was born at 12:35 pm and weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz.

Earlier this year, Bookout told MTV News that they planned to name their son Maverick Reed.  She explained, “Maverick was actually one of our boy name choices when we were pregnant with Jayde, before we knew it was a girl…Reed is a family name for both families.”  The Bulletproof author added, “We were also considering Connor for the first name, but we decided Maverick went better with the names Bentley and Jayde.”

According to Babynames.com, the name Maverick is of American origin and means “wildly independent.”  It is currently ranked at #206 on the list of most popular names in the United States.  Tom Cruise’s character in the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun was known as Maverick. Maverick was also the name of a popular 1950’s western show starring James Garner as the title character.

Bookout and McKinney are already parents to a one-year-old daughter, Jayde Carter. Maci is also mom to a seven year old son, Bentley Cadence, from a previous relationship.  The couple became engaged in January 2016 and found out they were pregnant the following month.
