Ne-yo and his wife Crystal Renay have welcomed their third child together! The couple named their second son after his father: Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr., or “S.J.” for short. (Ne-Yo is the singer’s stage name.)
S.J. arrived via an emergency C-section, weighing in at 6lbs., 8oz., and measuring 19 inches. Despite his dramatic arrival, the singer’s rep confirmed to E! News that both mother and child are healthy. Renay alluded to the hectic delivery in an Instagram post, writing: “Scariest delivery ever and I ended up getting a (sic) emergency C-section cause of complications but with the help of my amazing doctor and my super calming husband…I was able to get through it all and come out with the best reward in the world…”
Ne-Yo added his own announcement on Instagram, sharing a sweet shot of father cradling his newborn. He wrote, “You got a BIG family lookin’ out for you, immediate AND extended. And we all love you to death. Gonna do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure ALL my children never need for anything EVER.”
SJ joins older siblings, sister Dylan Skye Bosh (1), and brother Jackson Bosh (3). Ne-Yo and Renay married in February of this year in California. The singer told People at the time, “We’re looking forward to just being each others’ best friend.”
