Baby naming inspiration comes from many places…but from Ellen DeGeneres? That’s a new one. Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine revealed on Ellen’s show that he owes his baby’s name to the daytime host.
Adam and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, welcomed their daughter in September, naming her Dusty Rose. That beautiful name is all thanks to Ellen.
Adam explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show: “We had a name that we won’t mention on television. The name game is tough game. It’s a very hard, arduous [game]. Imagine you’re writing the best song you’ve ever written in your life and you have to name it. It’s really screwed up to actually have to put yourself through that.”
Naturally, he turned to Ellen for a little inspo, explaining: “I texted Ellen and I was like, ‘What do you think?’ She was like, ‘I hate it. I think it’s a terrible name. I was like, ‘Cool.’ She gave me like five names to think about: This, this, this, this, Dusty.”
He added, “You basically named my kid.” Ellen was happy to confirm, saying, “I did name your kid!”
His wife, however, wasn’t a big fan of the name initially, but he noted, “I brought it back to her in the eleventh hour. I’m like ‘Dusty’s pretty cool!’ She’s like, ‘I love it!’”
Levine added: “If anyone needs to name their child, Ellen’s really good at it.” Good to know.
