At the beginning of the year, the news was confirmed that Nicolas Cage was expecting his third child with his wife Riko Shibata. The couple’s first child together has arrived!

In a statement to People, a rep for the couple shared, “Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter. Mother and daughter are doing fine.” The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star previously revealed that he was expecting a daughter during an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show back in April.

During his interview with Kelly, he had shared the name that he and Riko had chosen for their daughter. Though it looks like their choice changed a little bit. Originally, Nicolas shared that his daughter’s name would be Lennon Augie. Lennon is after his favorite song “Across the Universe,” which was co-written by John Lennon. Augie was to be a nod to Nicolas’s father August, who passed away in 2009. It looks like the couple changed their minds a little bit. Instead, they named their daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage.

August is the actor’s first daughter. He has two sons from previous relationships. He shares son Weston, 31, with his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton and Kal-El, 16, he shares with ex-wife Alice Kim. Nicolas also has four grandchildren from his son Weston: Lucian, Sorin, Cypress, and Venice.

A few months ago, Nicolas shared with Access Hollywood that he was looking forward to being a father to a little one again. “I’m extremely excited. My boys are all grown up, and I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies and rocking in the rocking chair. I’m looking forward to getting back to that.”

Congratulations to Nicolas and Riko on the arrival of their first child together! We hope they enjoy this new role as parents together.
