Actress Amber Heard shared some exciting news today. She’s a mom! The Aquaman star revealed that she welcomed a baby completely on her own and shared the story behind her journey.
Alongside a post of Amber holding her baby, the actress wrote, “I’m so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms.” Amber, who was briefly but notoriously married to actor Johnny Depp, went on to share how this journey was anything but easy. “I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”
Amber, who tends to be private about her life, opened up about her decision to share this news. “A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.”
The Gully star did decide to share some details about her child. It’s a girl! Amber welcomed her daughter on April 8, 2021, via a surrogate, as she is unable to carry her own baby. The name Amber chose for her daughter is Oonagh Paige Heard. “She’s the beginning of the rest of my life,” the actress gushed. Oonagh’s middle name Paige is in honor of her late grandmother.
