Actress Kate Mara announced in July that she and her husband Jamie Bell were expecting their second child together. Now, the Call Jane star has revealed she welcomed her little one. “Had a baby a week ago,” she captioned a post accompanied by a picture of her second child’s feet.
Kate revealed in her post that she and Jamie have welcomed a son, however, they did not reveal his name. The couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter, in 2019 and have kept her name under wraps as well. Kate and Jamie are notoriously private and also choose not to share images of their child online. Jamie also has another child from a previous relationship. The actor shares a son named Jack Matfin Bell, born in 2013, with his ex-wife, actress Evan Rachel Wood.
While the couple, who began dating in 2015 and married in 2017, tend to stay tight-lipped about their relationship and family, they have discussed parenthood over the years. Ahead of welcoming her first child, Kate revealed she had suffered a miscarriage and was open about how it felt to become pregnant following the loss. “It was weird, this bitter or sweet sort of … I was so excited, but also sad that we weren’t as excited as we were the first time, because that was clear that it was a very different dynamic.” In October 2020, she opened up about balancing life as a working mom. “I find it quite easy to switch it on and off. Thank God, because as a new mom when you have a baby on your boob screaming in the trailer, and then you’ve got to go pretend to be sexy, it’s kind of a complete nightmare.”
Before Kate and Jamie became parents, Jamie gushed about being a father to his son Jack in 2017. “The thing I’m proudest of achieving is my son. I’m obsessed. Every moment I spend with him I fall a little bit more for him. It’s almost kind of painful, that thing when you are falling into something so unconditionally.”
