Actress Kayla Ewell is growing her family! The Vampire Diaires star has announced that she and her husband, fellow actor Tanner Novlan, will be welcoming their second child together in August. And they’ve already revealed their little one’s gender.

It’s a boy! Kayla and Tanner already have a daughter, 2 1/2-year-old Poppy Marie, who was born in 2019. Kayla shared with People that she feels “lucky” to be a mom to both a daughter and a son. “I really wanted to be a boy mom. I’m excited to meet him. It’ll be fun.”

The Directionally Challenged podcaster, a podcast she hosts with her former Vampire Diaries castmate Candice King, revealed that her daughter Poppy is looking forward to becoming a big sister. “She tells everyone on the street, even dogs on the street that she’s a big sister, and she’s really excited about it.”

Kayla also expressed how excited she is to raise her son now that the pandemic is becoming more controlled. Poppy was six-months-old when the pandemic hit, which naturally threw a ring into parenting as it did for everyone. “We have a little bit more of a semblance of what life will be like. So in a way, even though it’s our second baby, it’ll be our first time experiencing it in a somewhat ‘normal’ way. As normal as we are right now, which is not normal.”

Congratulations to Kayla and Tanner on the news of their second child! We wish them all the best as they prepare to welcome their son into the world.
