Zara Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter, has welcomed her third child with her husband, retired rugby player Mike Tindall.
Zara and Mike have welcomed a baby boy – their first son! They’ve named their third child Lucas Phillip Tindall. Lucas is joins the Tindall family with two older sisters: 7-year-old Mia Grace and 2-year-old Lena Elizabeth.
Lucas was born this past Sunday, weighing 8lbs., 4oz. He is Queen Elizabeth’s 10th great-grandchild and is Princess Anne’s 5th grandchild. On his The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast, Mike revealed that his son was born at home — in the bathroom. Mike shared that Zara’s friend, Dolly Maude, was with them “and recognized that we wouldn’t have got to hospital in time. So, it was run into the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get a mat on the floor, towels down, ‘brace-brace-brace.’ Fortunately, the midwife, who was going to meet us at the hospital wasn’t that far away, so she drove up, got there just as we’d assumed the [position]. And then the second midwife arrived just after the head had arrived.” Talk about a dramatic entrance!
Lucas shares a middle name with another royal family member who recently arrived: Princess Eugenie’s first son, August Philip Hawke.
It is believed that Lucas’s middle name isn’t just a nod to Prince Phillip, Zara’s grandfather, but is also a tribute to Mike’s father who shares the name.
Congratulations to Zara and Mike on welcoming Lucas into the family! We wish them lots of love as they transition into this exciting new time.
