Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are over the moon after the birth of their daughter, Luna Simone Stephens. (Stephens is the given last name of the “All of Me” singer.)
Luna was born on April 14th, weighing 6 lbs., 11 oz. The supermodel took to Instagram with the announcement, “She’s here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy.” Legend shared the happy news on Twitter, writing: “Our new love is here! Luna Simone Stephens, born on Thursday, the 14th. We couldn’t be happier!”
According to babynames.com, the name Luna is of Latin origin and means “moon.” The name Simone is French and means, “to be heard.” It’s too early to say if Luna Simone will be heard on the radio like her father, but she has already inspired some new music. Legend told US Weekly “There’s definitely songs that I’ve written about being a new father and thinking about what that means.”
The couple, who married in Italy in 2013, were very open about their struggles to conceive. In October, Teigen announced that she had undergone a successful IVF treatment and selected a female embryo for their first child.
Teigen told People that the couple eventually want to have a large family and shared her excitement at sharing a new chapter in life with her husband. “We’ve been together so long, and sometimes we look at each other and we’re like, ‘I know everything about you and you know everything about me. But we have no idea what we’re going to be like as parents. I think it’ll be really fun. I’m excited.”
