Musician Dave Grohl took to Instagram today to share news about his family. The Foo Fighters frontman revealed he fathered a child outside of his marriage to Jordyn Blum. He didn’t share too much about his newborn but did reveal one detail.

The guitarist welcomed a baby girl, but did not reveal her name or the identity of her mother. “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, outside of my marriage,” the former Nirvana drummer wrote. Dave and Jordyn have been married since 2003 and share three daughters together: Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.

The “Learn to Fly” singer shared about his new daughter, “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.” Of how this has affected his family, Dave wrote, “I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.” To end his post, his first in nearly one year on Instagram, the singer asked of his fans, “We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

While the musician has notoriously kept his personal life rather private, he has opened up about being a father over the years. After welcoming his first baby, Dave shared in a 2007 interview with The Guardian, “For the past 20 years when I’ve been touring, I’ve always craved stability. I’ve never gotten off on chaos. Throughout the whole Nirvana experience I retreated to Virginia whenever I felt sucked into the tornado of insanity. Same thing with the Foo Fighters. I wouldn’t be able to do this if I didn’t have my feet planted firmly on the ground. So Jordyn and Violet are anchors that keep me from completely disappearing.”
