Eddie Murphy became a dad for the ninth (yes, ninth!) time today. Murphy and his long-time girlfriend Paige Butcher welcomed a daughter named Izzy Oona Murphy.
According to the couple’s representative, Izzy was born on Tuesday, May 3rd, weighing 7 lbs., 15 oz., and measuring 191/2 inches long. An official statement said, “Both mother and daughter are doing well.”
According to Babynames.com, the name Izzy is of American origin and means “God is my oath.” The baby’s middle name, Oona, is of Irish origin and means “one.”
Izzy is the first child for Butcher, and the ninth child for Murphy. The comedian is a dad to sons Eric and Christian from previous relationships. He and ex-wife Nicole Mitchell-Murphy had five children together: Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella. Murphy also has a daughter named Angel with former Spice Girl, Melanie Brown.
In October of 2015, Murphy was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
