Singer-songwriter Halsey, born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, has announced the arrival of their first child! Halsey and partner, screenwriter Alev Aydin, welcomed their little one on July 14th. The “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” singer posted two black and white photos to share the news.

Halsey, who goes by she/they pronouns, did not reveal the gender of her child, though she did share their name: Ender Ridley Aydin. Ender is a Turkish name that means “extremely rare,” something Halsey pointed out in her announcement post. She captioned the photos, “Gratitude. For the most “rare” and euphoric birth. Powered by love.”
The singer revealed in January that she was expecting her first child. It was at this time that also confirmed that she and Alev were dating. She tagged the screenwriter in her pregnancy post and he commented, “Heart so full, I love you sweetness.” A few months later in March of 2021, she revealed that he pregnancy was “100% planned and that she had “tried very hard” to conceive.

Halsey brought on some speculation a few weeks ago when she posted a photo of herself with a baby. While the baby certainly looked older than a newborn, fans wondered if the musician had given birth. But, as she later revealed, she was still pregnant at the time of the picture. The image was to promote her newest album, “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.”
She described her newest album sharing, “This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully. My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being.”
