Former 19 Kids and Counting star Jedidah Duggar, known as Jed, announced earlier this month that he and his wife Katey were expecting their second child together. Now, the couple has revealed the sex of their little one.
The couple shared a video on their YouTube channel to announce the news. The video began with the couple heading to Katey’s ultrasound appointment where the sex was learned and put in an envelope to keep secret. Jed gave the envelope to his brother James, who was in charge of putting together the reveal. On the day of the reveal, the couple shared what they thought the sex was, with Jed guessing a girl. Katey shared in the video, “I’ve been feeling boy this whole time but now I’m leaning towards girl.”
The reality star and Katey decided to announce the news surrounded by family and friends. Everyone who attended marked their guesses on a chalkboard the couple put out before the reveal. For the reveal, the family went outside to a bonfire, which is how the couple thought the sex would be revealed. Then, off in the distance, a pink junk car was launched towards a lake to showcase the sex, followed by pink fireworks and smoke poppers. It’s a girl! “She’s going to look just like you,” Jed told Katey.
The sex wasn’t the only announcement the couple made at their reveal party. They also shared the name they have chosen for their daughter. Jed and Katey shared that they thought their son True, whose full name is Truett Oliver and who was born in May 2022, was going to be a girl and since their new little one will be a girl, they are using the name they had chosen if their son had been born a girl: Nora Kate. In describing the choice, Katey shared that “Nora means light and Kate means pure.” Nora is due this coming May.
Congratulations to Jed and Katey on the news of their daughter! We wish them all the best as they prepare to welcome Nora into the world.
