Actors Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara are growing their family! The news was revealed by Rooney, who appeared on the red carpet in Berlin, Germany at Berlinale International Film Festival for the premiere of her film The Kitchen. The actress debuted her baby bump at the event to confirm she and the Napoleon star are expecting their second baby.
At the event, the La Cocina star wore a black, strapless Givenchy gown and cradled her baby bump as she walked the red carpet. She did not address the news in any other fashion during the event. This little one will be Joaquin and Rooney’s second baby together. The couple welcomed their first baby in 2020, with the news coming out in September of that year. They named their first baby, a boy, River after Joaquin’s brother. River Phoenix, an actor most notably known for his role in the cult classic Stand By Me, passed away in 1993 at the age of 23 from a drug overdose.
The couple, who keep their personal lives quite private, first met in 2013 on the set of the film Her but didn’t begin dating until years later. Joaquin and Rooney reunited on the set of Mary Magdalene in 2018, which is when they began dating. The Walk the Line star and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star reportedly became engaged in 2019, but have not yet tied the knot.
