People has exclusively announced that actress Katharine McPhee, 36 is expecting her first child with her husband, musician David Foster, 70.

The Smash actress and her husband were spotted in Montecito, California grabbing lunch together and shopping for baby items. Katharine’s growing baby bump was in full view. A source close to the couple confirmed that they were shopping for themselves as they are expecting!

Katharine, who competed on season five of American Idol, met David on the set of the competition series in 2006. David was Katharine’s mentor on the show. The couple remained friends for years, David even played the piano at Katharine’s first wedding in February 2008 to Nick Costas. Katharine and Nick officially divorced in 2016, three years after they officially separated.

Katharine and David were first romantically linked in May 2017 after they were spotted at a dinner date at Nobu in Malibu. The two were very cozy during their meal. It wasn’t until a year later in May of 2018 that the couple officially confirmed their relationship when they attended the Met Gala together. That July, they announced their engagement. He popped the question in Anacapri, Italy.

The couple tied the knot on June 28, 2019 in front of family and friends in London at the Church of Saint Yeghiche in South Kensington.

The couple’s bundle of joy will be the first child David has welcomed in over thirty years. He has five adult daughters. He shares three daughters with second wife Rebecca Dyer, Sara, 39, Erin, 38, and Jordan, 34. He has two older daughters from previous relationships, Allison, 50, and Amy, 46.
