Reality star Khloé Kardashian welcomed her second child via surrogate on July 28th with her on-again, off-again partner Tristan Thompson. The Good American co-founder has kept her son’s arrival private but during the season 2 premiere of her show The Kardashians, Khloé opened up about welcoming her son and learning about Tristan’s infidelity.
Khloé shares a 4-year-old daughter named True with Tristan and the couple decided to grow their family despite their tumultuous relationship. Since Khloé experienced a high risk pregnancy with True, they decided to use a surrogate. The reality star allegedly began an embryo transfer in November of 2021 just before the Thanksgiving holiday. Just weeks later at the beginning of December, she learned Tristan had fathered another child who was welcomed by a woman named Maralee Nichols on December 1st.
On the episode, Khloé discussed her desire to keep her pregnancy a secret. It wasn’t revealed until just weeks before Khloé’s surrogate gave birth that she was expecting a child. “I want to keep this private for my loved ones as long as possible. I can’t hear about this for months, about what an idiot I am, what a dumb f— I am… I can’t even begin to think about that. I’m very scared. It’s very scary. I think I’m emotionally equipped but … I have to brace myself for when this goes public because everyone is so mean … and you want to protect this innocent being who had nothing to do with this.”
Khloé’s sister Kim Kardashian shed some light on how Khloé was handling the time before her son’s arrival. “It’s really tricky because she doesn’t want to celebrate anything but you want to start changing her mindset,” Kim shared in a confessional on the episode. “We have to start shifting the energy a little bit so there’s some positivity and light during this time. It’s almost like this isn’t happening, and I think we just need to subtly push her in the right direction to want to feel the joy of a new baby coming.”
The episode also featured a scene where Khloé was present for the birth of her son. She was joined in the hospital with her sister Kim, who documented the moment. Khloé later shared in the confessional what it felt like to welcome her son. “I am so grateful. It’s such a beautiful gift that we’re able to have. Ever since December, it’s been this dark cloud looming over me. Every single day, I’ve been feeling depressed and sad, and now that my son is here, I get to move on, and I get to enjoy. It’s almost like I get to close that chapter and be done with this trauma and put it behind me. Now I finally get to start the healing process. Now I get to start enjoying my life with two kids in it and figuring this out. This is gonna be day one, and this is gonna be the start of something positive, and happy and beautiful.”
Khloé has not yet revealed the name for her son, though it is likely the announcement will be made during this season of The Kardahsians. Khloé’s sister Kylie Jenner has also not revealed the name of her new child. Kylie welcomed a son in February of this year with her partner Travis Scott. She had shared that her son’s name was Wolf but later revealed that the couple changed his name, but has not yet shared their newest choice.
