Actors Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie, who stared at Jon Snow and Ygritte, respectively, on Game of Thrones, are growing their family! During an interview on The Tonight Show, Kit announced that Rose was pregnant with the couple’s second child.
Kit and Rose welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in February 2021. The couple, who keep their personal lives private, have not shared the name of their son. When announcing the news to Jimmy Fallon, Kit shared that his son is “about to get the shock of his life. Which is that he’s about to get a brother or sister.”
On becoming a father of two, the Baby Ruby star revealed that he is “terrified” and compared his feelings now to what it was like preparing to welcome his first child. “You know, with the first baby you’re like walking on clouds and dancing through fields of daisies for nine months — well, the man is anyway. But this time, the reality check comes much shorter. You get practical real quick.” Kit also discussed how his son is taking the news of becoming a big brother. “We’re trying to get him ready for it,” Kit explained. “We point to Rose’s tummy and we say, ‘Mommy’s baby, mommy’s baby.’ And he points to his tummy and goes, ‘My baby.’ I’m quite sure that’s — yeah, you’ll know soon enough.”
Kit and Rose met on the set of Game of Thrones, their characters were engaged in a romantic relationship for a short period of time. They made their first red carpet appearance together in 2016, confirming rumors that had been circling since 2012 that the couple was involved off-screen. In September 2017, they announced their engagement and tied the knot in June 2018 in Scotland.
