Country music singer Mickey Guyton has announced the arrival of her first child with her husband Grant Savoy!
The Grammy nominee shared a picture that meticulously hid the face of her newborn to announce his arrival. Mickey has named her first son Greyson! She shared of her birthing journey, “The hardest and most beautiful thing I have ever done.” She also shared a bible verse that conveyed her experience. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. – Psalm 30:5”
Mickey, who is famously known as being the only black female artist signed to a major label, has enjoyed quite an extraordinary time in her career during the months of her pregnancy! Last year, she performed at the 55th annual Academy of Country Music Awards at the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, which was the first time a black woman has performed at the event. She is also the first black female solo artist to receive a Grammy nomination in a country category for the song “Black Like Me,” a song that addresses the current social justice issues our country is facing.
She has received criticism over the past year but has handled it all with grace and dignity. She hasn’t let it stop her from using her voice for good.
Baby Greyson arrived in the world just under 3 years after Mickey and Grant, an attorney, tied the knot. The couple married in June 2017 after dating for seven years at an intimate ceremony at the Kauai Marriott Resort in Kauai, Hawaii. Congratulations to Mickey and Grant on growing their family!
