Grammy Award winner Michelle Branch has announced that she and her husband Patrick Carney are expecting their second child together. This new bundle of joy will be baby number 3 for Michelle. The news comes months after the Everywhere singer revealed she had suffered a miscarriage.
Michelle announced the news in a cheeky fashion. As a play on the term “bun in the oven,” she shared images of scones she made for breakfast with the caption “You know you’re pregnant when…” She shared a story on why she was inspired to bake as well. “Woke up to a picture my friend Sonya sent of scones she was eating in England and I immediately had to hop out of bed and make a batch myself. [Patrick] was my hero (as usual) and went to the market in search of double cream.”
The You Get Me singer also referenced her previous miscarriage in her post as she reflected on how she is feeling about her pregnancy and when her baby is due. “Couldn’t be more excited (and nervous! Hello, pregnancy after miscarriage anyone?!) to announce baby Carney is coming early 2022!” Michelle revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in December 2020. “Just when we were rounding third and heading home (A baseball metaphor?! I know.) 2020 was like, ‘nah, I ain’t done yet,'” Branch wrote at the time. “December decided to really finish us off with a bang! No, literally. A bomb went off in downtown Nashville yesterday,” she continued. “And to further twist a dagger in my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage (ugh! Mother—!)”
Michelle and Patrick, the drummer of the Black Keys, welcomed their first child together in August 2018, a son named Rhys James. They tied the knot at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans in April 2019. The Hopeless Romantic singer has a 16-year-old daughter named Owen Isabelle, whom she shares with her ex-husband Teddy Landau.
Congratulations to Michelle and Patrick on the news of their second child. We wish them all the best as they prepare to welcome their little one.
