Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt revealed exciting family news. He and his wife Kealia Ohai, a professional soccer player, are expecting their first child together! The couple is expected to welcome their little one in October of this year.

“Could not be more excited,” JJ wrote in his announcement post, which was accompanied by a carousel of images of the couple together with Kealia’s baby bump in view. The couple tied the knot in February 2020 in a romantic ceremony in the Bahamas at The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort. At the time, JJ reflected on the day sharing, “Best day of my life. Without question.”

JJ, which stands for Justin James, met the Chicago Red Stars player through his Houston Texans teammate Brian Cushing. Brian was married to Megan Cushing, Kealia’s sister. JJ and Kealia dated privately for about a year before making their relationship public in 2017. The couple announced their engagement in May of 2019. “I’m the luckiest man in the world,” the football player wrote at the time.

JJ has had some experience with children through his nephew Logan James. Logan is JJ’s younger brother Derek Watt’s child. Derek is a fellow NFL player currently a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The NFL star frequently posts pictures with his nephew and certainly appears to be a doting uncle. JJ posted a picture for Logan’s third birthday this past February. JJ gushed about his nephew’s event writing, “Logan’s 3rd Birthday was a dinosaur-sized success. Yes because he’s a sweet nephew, yes because we got to spend the day with the entire family, yes because he got some great presents. But also… because there were DIRT CUPS.”

Congratulations to JJ and Kealia on the news of growing their family! We wish them lots of love as they prepare to welcome their first child into the world.
