Rapper Nicki Minaj took to Instagram today to share the exciting news that she is expecting her first child with her husband Kenneth Petty!
The 37-year-old Grammy nominee shared three separate posts from a maternity photoshoot that showed Nicki cradling her growing baby bump while wearing bold colors and bright wigs, a fashion true to Nicki’s style. She captioned the first photo “#Preggers” with a yellow heart emoji, left no caption on the second photo, and for the last photo wrote, “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.” with another yellow heart.
The “Super Bass” singer and Kenneth first dated when they were teenagers but reconnected in their adult life. They went public with their relationship on Instagram in December of 2018. Rumors swirled around in 2019 that the two were married, first after Nicki referred to Kenneth as her husband in March and then again in July after it was revealed the couple had obtained a marriage license. It wasn’t until October that the couple revealed they had tied the knot.
On October 21st, Nicki shared a video to her Instagram page where she panned over two mugs one that said Mr. and one that said Mrs. and two hats, one that read Bride and one that read Groom. She captioned the video with wedding-related emojis and wrote, “Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19.”
No news on when Nicki’s first child is expected to arrive. But the mother-to-be does appear to be fairly far along in her pictures so she may be welcoming a son or a daughter sooner rather than later! We wish her good health as she continues her pregnancy.
