Actress Uzo Aduba is ready to take on an exciting new role: mom! The Orange is the New Black star announced that she and her husband, filmmaker Robert Sweeting, are expecting their first baby together. “What a blessing.”

To reveal the news, Uzo shared a video of her holding up a white ribbed onesie, with the mom-to-be sported a huge smile. “My husband Robert and I are so happy to enter this next chapter together as parents,” she wrote in the caption. “I am beyond excited. I get to be someone’s Mommy! I know as the three of us continue to grow, our only, ONLY goal will be to love you, little one. My goodness. Look what God has done.”

In addition to her Instagram post, the Lightyear star debuted her baby bump at the 2023 Tony Awards. Uzo wore an orange suit designed by Christian Siriano and unbuttoned the suit jacket to reveal her growing baby bump. Uzo has not revealed when her baby is due to arrive.

The couple quietly tied the knot in 2020 in New York City but didn’t reveal they were married until September 2021. Uzo shared an image from their wedding day and gushed about her husband. Her caption began with a quote from the 1989 film When Harry Met Sally. “When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

In her own words, she went on to share, “For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone. My heart, my love — I’m so happy my life started last year with you. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Congratulations to Uzo and Robert on the news of their baby! We send them lots of love as they prepare to welcome their little one.
