Last month, Paris Hilton announced the surprising news that she and her husband Carter Reum had welcomed their first child. The socialite had not previously shared that they were expecting a baby, who was born via surrogate. After keeping details rather private, Paris has now revealed the name the couple chose for their little one.
During the recent episode of her podcast This Is Paris, the DJ announced the name of her son: Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum. Paris shared that she came up with the name 10 years ago and wrote about the decision in her upcoming memoir Paris.
Paris read the excerpt from her book on the podcast where she dives into the inspiration for the name choice. “If all goes well, by the time you read this, Carter and I will have a baby boy. We plan to name him Phoenix, a name that I decided on years ago when I was searching cities, countries and states on a map looking for something to go with Paris and London,” she read. The author has previously shared that she chose the name London for her future daughter. As for why she chose Phoenix, Paris continued, “Phoenix has a few good pop culture reference points, but more importantly it’s the bird that flames out and then rises from the ashes to fly again. I want my son to grow up knowing that disaster and triumph go around and come around throughout our lives. And that this should give us great hope for the future.”
Phoenix’s middle name Barron is a family name for the Hilton family, specifically the socialite’s grandfather, and Paris shared her desire to use that moniker as part of her son’s name. “He was always my mentor. I looked up to my grandfather so much, and we were so close, and I miss him every day. So, I really wanted to honor him by having his name in my first son’s name. So there you go. My beautiful baby boy’s name is Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum.”
In another surprising twist, talk show host Ellen Degeneres revealed that she had guessed the name of Paris’s son on an episode of her show last year. Ellen shared a clip from her January 27, 2022 interview with Paris. The heiress had shared during the interview that she wanted to name her son after a city or country. She didn’t want to reveal it because she was “scared someone will steal the name.” Ellen attempted to guess the name and threw out Phoenix as one of her guesses. While we now know she was correct, Paris played it off well and didn’t allude to Ellen being correct.
