Singer Brendon Urie, the frontman of the band Panic! At The Disco, shared both happy and sad news today on Instagram. In a text-based post on the social media platform, he announced that his band “will be no more” but that there is another journey he will be taking: becoming a father! Brendon and his wife Sarah are expecting their first child.
“We’ve been trying to keep it to ourselves, though some of you may have heard,” Brendon shared in his post after reflecting on his journey to stardom, “Sarah and I are expecting a baby very soon! The prospect of being a father and getting to watch my wife become a mother is both humbling and exciting. I look forward to this next adventure.” The singer then revealed the end of Panic! At The Disco, “That said, I am going to bring this chapter of my life to an end and put my focus and energy on my family, and with that Panic! At The Disco will be no more.”
Brendon’s announcement comes after speculation in December that he and Sarah were expecting a baby. Last month, Pete Wentz of the band Fall Out Boy shared a photo on his Instagram story that seemingly showed a photo in the background that revealed Brendon and Sarah were pregnant. The photo showed Brendon standing behind Sarah as he held her growing baby bump.
The couple first met briefly when Sarah was attending one of his band’s shows. She was dating someone else at the time. The two were reintroduced a few months later in 2009 and began dating. Brendon proposed to Sarah in 2011 and the couple married on April 27, 2013.
Congratulations to Brendon and Sarah on the news of their first child! We wish them all the best as they prepare for parenthood.
