In May 2022, singer Ed Sheeran announced that he and his wife Cherry Seaborn had welcomed their second child together. The announcement came as a surprise as the couple had not shared that they were expecting a baby. At the time, they did not share their little one’s name but now, the “Bad Habits” singer has revealed the moniker.

The “Shape of You” singer revealed the name of his second child, a baby girl, in a cover story for Rolling Stone. Ed and Cherry named their second daughter Jupiter. Jupiter joined the family with the couple’s first child, another daughter named Lyra Antarctica. When Ed announced the birth of Jupiter, he shared, “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4.”

In his interview for the magazine, Ed spoke openly about his life as a father and a musician. “Me and Cherry were talking earlier about how it’s so lovely [having a family]. We had an entire day. We did nothing but this. It’s so nice and wholesome having family on tour. On the last tour, I’d party till 7 a.m., sleep till 4 p.m., get up and do the gig. But I was like, 26. It’s very different.”

Earlier this month, Ed opened up about a difficult time in his life that occurred while Cherry was pregnant with Jupiter. “Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.”

In his Rolling Stone interview, he shared that there had been discussion about delivering Jupiter early to tend to Cherry’s tumor, but she ended up carrying Jupiter to term. In June, one month after Jupiter’s arrival, Cherry had a successful surgery but Ed wasn’t able to be there, as he was performing that evening. “There’s nothing you can do about it. You feel so powerless,” he reflected.

We’re glad to hear Cherry is doing well following her surgery and that the family is enjoying their lives together.
