Julie Ertz, soccer player for the United States women’s national soccer team, has announced that she is pregnant! This little one will be the first child for Julie and her husband, NFL player Zach Ertz.

“Adding to our starting lineup… Baby Ertz!” Julie wrote in her announcement post, which featured two images of the couple. The first image was a black and white photo that showed Zach kissing his wife’s baby bump. The second image featured Julie, who wore a stunning blue velvet dress, sitting on Zach’s lap while both of them held Julie’s bump. The Angel City FC player also referenced a bible verse in her post, Psalms 30:11-12, a passage that reads: “You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!”

Julie and the Arizona Cardinals player met in 2012 through mutual friends. At the time, Zach was playing on Stanford University’s football team while Julie was on the soccer team nearby at Santa Clara. The couple dated long-distance for a while when Zach moved to Philadelphia to play for the Eagles in 2013. Zach asked Julie to marry him in 2016 and the following year, in 2017, the couple tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony in Santa Barbara, California at the Bacara Resort & Spa. At the time, Julie shared that her wedding was a “dream come true.” The couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary last month.

Congratulations to Julie and Zach on the news of their pregnancy! We wish them lots of love as they prepare to welcome their first child into the world.
