Barbara Bush, the daughter of former President George Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush, has welcomed her first child with her husband Craig Coyne. George and Laura issued a statement announcing the news of their newest grandchild to People Magazine. “With full hearts, Laura and I are delighted to announce the birth of our new granddaughter.”
Barbara, who is named after her grandmother and former First Lady Barbara Bush, gave birth to her first child – a baby girl – on September 27th. In her parent’s statement, they shared that their granddaughter was born “not far from our family home where Barbara and Craig were married.” Barbara and Craig, a screenwriter, chose to name their daughter Cora Georgia Coyne. The couple do not have public Instagram accounts and, therefore, have no revealed the news on social media.
George and Laura shared a loving statement about their newest grandchild. “Cora is healthy and adorable, and we are proud and grateful.” Cora makes grandchild number four for the Bush family. Their daughter Jenna Hager, who is Barbara’s twin sister, has three children: two girls named Mila and Poppy, and a boy named Henry, whom his family refers to as Hal.
Barbara and Craig tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Kennebunkport, Maine in October of 2018. The simple yet romantic event was held at the Bush family compound in the backyard overlooking the ocean with only about 20 guests in attendance. Jenna Hager shared on the Today show why the couple chose to have such an intimate ceremony. “They wanted to get married here because my grandfather is here. It was a very secret wedding, a little bit like my elusive sister. But also, just family in a place that means family love, and it was beautiful.”
The couple celebrated their wedding again with a big part less than a year later at the Bush’s ranch, known as Prairie Chapel, in Texas. About 100 guests were in attendance.
