Singer Rihanna welcomed her first child this year in May with her partner, A$AP Rocky. The Fenty Beauty founder is notoriously private regarding her personal life, but she recently discussed why she hasn’t shared much about her little one yet.
Rihanna, whose full name is Robin Rihanna Fenty, welcomed a son on May 13th and as of yet, she and A$AP Rocky have not shared his name nor any pictures of him. During an interview with the Washington Post, the “Lift Me Up” singer shared, “We just didn’t get around to it yet really. We’ve just been living. But I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just, like, getting it out there.”
The Savage X Fenty founder shared with E! News that she is reminding herself of her own mother, Monica Braithwaite while parenting her son. “It is weird. Even the little things that annoy me about her, I do it. I literally make all of the same faces. I say the same things. I clear my throat the same way. I move my mouth the same way. I either never noticed it or it never happened until I had a baby.
Rihanna has gotten back into work full force and candidly shared the difficulty that comes with being a working mom in the spotlight. “[There’s] not much balance. But everything is stimulating. Everything right now is firing off. I’m excited. It’s getting me super motivated, super energized to do new things, to create, and I’m back in the studio and now we’re going to be back on stage for the Super Bowl. Which is just crazy that I even agreed to that, but I am, and I’m excited. Of course being a new mom is insane. It is lovely. It is epic, honestly.” The choice to perform at the Super Bowl wasn’t one she took lightly. “If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special. It was now or never for me.”
We look forward to the day Rihanna chooses to share her son’s name, eager to see the inspiration behind it.
