Actor Elijah Wood, most notably known for portraying the role of Frodo in The Lord of the Rings movie series, has revealed that he quietly welcomed his second child with his partner Mette-Marie Kongsved. The actor casually shared the news in an interview for The Wall Street Journal.

When asked what time the Yellowjackets star starts his day, the actor replied with a loaded answer. “We’ve got a 3-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early.” Elijah has been very private with his personal life and the news of welcoming a child over a year ago came as a surprise as he is not usually keen on sharing this information. While the actor has an Instagram page, he keeps it private. He discussed this choice with the WSJ sharing, “I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world. An account that’s public-facing would really change what I share. It’s not like I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m just a relatively private person.”

No other details are known about Elijah’s second child, specifically her name. The actor and Mette-Marie, a producer, welcomed their first child in 2019, a son named Evan. His son’s birth was also kept quiet for a quite a while. He didn’t reveal he had welcomed a child until 2020. He shared the news on Late Night With Seth Meyers when he disclosed that he and his partner found out the couple, who met on the 2017 film I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, were pregnant “on Christmas Eve.” Considering the time, that would be Christmas Eve 2018.

Congratulations to Elijah and Mette-Marie on growing their family! We hope they are enjoying their quiet life as a family of four.
