Bachelor alums Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon will be welcoming their first child together in just a few weeks. Today during an Amazon Live session, the couple revealed the name they have chosen for their little one!
In August, the couple shared that their first child together would be a baby boy. The name the Bachelor in Paradise alums have chosen for their son is Dawson Demitri Haibon.
Ashley revealed during the live session that she had picked out the name Dawson when she was 20 years old and had shared her name choice with Jared before the couple was dating when they were just friends. The name came from Leonardo DiCaprio’s character of Jack Dawson in the movie Titanic, Jared explained. “She said that she wanted to name her firstborn Dawson after Jack Dawson. I was totally onboard. I said, ‘I love the name Dawson.’ I also love Jack Dawson from Titanic.” Ashley added that, “Jared and I are both hopeless romantic, cinematic people. Naming a kid after a Leo character is very natural for us.”
Dawson’s middle name doesn’t have quite the backstory as his first name. The couple “just like” the name Demitri. But Jared does like that the name is Tom Cruise’s alias at the beginning of Mission Impossible 2. Sharing Dawson’s name with the world makes the whole thing “feels much more real,” Jared shared. “It’s no longer like, ‘Oh, our kid.’ It’s like, ‘Oh, no, that’s Dawson in there. Dawson’s kicking her ribs. Dawson’s making her not be able to breathe. Dawson’s already a pain in the butt.'”
Dawson will be making his arrival in a few weeks in February. Congratulations again to Ashley and Jared on growing their family!
