Surprise! Actress Mindy Kaling is a mother of three! In celebration of her 45th birthday, The Mindy Project star revealed she quietly welcomed her third baby at the beginning of the year. “The best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined.”
To share the news, the Never Have I Ever showrunner posted three images to her Instagram: one featuring her three children together on a blanket with their faces away from the camera, one with a pregnant Mindy wearing a floral dress, and another with Mindy sitting in a hospital bed after giving birth surrounded by her children. Mindy shared that she welcomed a daughter in February and named her Anne. “In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne.”

Secret pregnancies are nothing new for The Office alum as she also kept her first two pregnancies private as well. Mindy welcomed her first baby, daughter Katherine “Kit,” in 2017 and her son Spencer was born in 2020. The actress has never revealed the identify of her children’s father and mentioned her progressive parenting journey in her post announcing Anne’s birth. Mindy wrote, “When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline.”
While the producer posts images of her children online occasionally, she protects their privacy by keeping their faces covered. Of her decision, she has told PEOPLE, “I feel like I might as well wait until they get old enough so they can tell me if they want to be part of my social media or not.” Like most parents Mindy wishes she could share more, explaining to PEOPLE, “I’m like any parent where I’m proud of the things they do. I think they’re so cute, and of course, I want other people to see it.”
