Dutch model Romee Strijd has announced the arrival of her first child – a baby girl! – with her husband Laurens Van Leeuwen. The name she’s chosen for her little one is a bit… unusual.
Romee posted an intimate shot of herself breastfeeding her little girl to share the news. She started off her caption by announcing her daughter’s name: Mint van Leeuwen. Mint is a Latin name that is used as a gender-neutral name. It’s definitely different!
The Victoria Secret Angel continued in her caption saying, “feeling so blessed to finally hold you in my arms 💕 We are so in love with you!!”
The couple announced in May that they were expecting their first child together. In her post, Romee opened up about her struggle to conceive due to PCOS. “2 years ago I got diagnosed with PCOS after not getting my period for 7 years. I was devastated because being a mom and starting a family with @laurensvleeuwen is my biggest dream.. I was so scared that I would never be able to because I got told it was harder to get babies in a natural way.” She went into detail about the research she had done on PCOS and how she worked to revamp her lifestyle so she could see her dream come to fruition.
The model and Laurens have been together since January of 2010. They got married in October of 2018, but there was no wedding… yet. The couple is planning to have a romantic wedding ceremony at some point, but have yet to make any plans.
