Country music singer Scotty McCreery is taking on a new role: fatherhood! Scotty, who rose to fame after winning the 10th season of American Idol in 2011, has welcomed his first child with his wife Gabi. “Never known a love like this.”
It’s a boy! Scotty and Gabi welcomed their son on October 24 in Raleigh, North Carolina at 4:34 AM, arriving 11 days early and weighing 7 lbs 13oz at birth. The couple named their son Merrick Avery McCreery and revealed that their son will go by his middle name. Avery was given the name Merrick after Gabi’s father, Merrick (Tre) Dugal III. In their joint post, the couple shared a message to their fans and an update on the health of Merrick and Gabi. “Thank yall for all of your prayers during this exciting season of life! Healthy baby and a healthy mama!”
The “You Time” singer gushed about his newborn sharing, “Next to his mother, he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Gabi was a total rock star during Avery’s birth. I could not be more proud of her. She has already taken to motherhood like a champ. Part of my joy as his Dad is watching Gabi already crush it as his Mom.” He also reflected on his eagerness leading up to welcoming Avery. “We have been waiting and preparing all year, and now we are so excited to have our little man here with us. We have begun a grand new adventure that will continue for the rest of our lives.”
Scotty and Gabi first met when they were in kindergarten together in Garner, North Carolina. They began dating during their senior year in high school and maintained their relationship for six years before tying the knot in 2018. They were wed in the North Carolina mountains at Twickenham House & Hall surrounded by family and friends.
