Earlier this year, the news was confirmed that actor Nicolas Cage and his wife Riko Shibata were expecting their first child together. This new little one will be the first new child Nicolas has welcomed in over fifteen years. Now, the actor has shared details about his new baby.
The actor sat down for an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote his new film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent when he shared the news. “I’m gonna announce some big news for everyone. I am gonna have a little girl.” Nicolas also revealed the name he and Riko have chosen for their first child together. “Her name is going to be Lennon Augie, Augie after my father.” Nicolas’s father August Coppola passed away in 2009. “I’ll call her Lenny for short.” Nicolas also revealed the inspiration for her first name Lennon. He recalled hearing the song “Across the Universe” by The Beatles at four-years-old and being mesmerized by the music. “It’s my favorite song ever written.” John Lennon wrote the song along with Paul McCartney.
The National Treasure star gushed about becoming a dad to a baby girl. “I’m thrilled. It’s gonna be the biggest adventure of my life. So, here we go.” Lennon will be Nicolas’s first daughter. He has two sons: Weston, 31, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton, and Kal-El, 16, whom he shares with ex-wife Alice Kim. Nicolas also has four grandchildren. His son Weston welcomed identical twin daughters in 2020, Cypress and Venice, with his wife Hila. Weston also has two other children, sons Lucian and Sorin.
Weston shared a touching post earlier this year after the news of his father welcoming another child. He wrote on Instagram, “I CELEBRATE THE GOLDEN MOMENTS!!! It is true. I am going to be a brother yet again. My dear forthcoming brother or sister…. I cannot wait to show you an unparalleled brotherly love. I am tearing up with joy. You saved the world and you haven’t even been born yet.”
